There is a large garden around the cottage, ideal for children to play in or having a wonderful meal al fresco. Nature lovers will lack for nothing here, thanks to the rural location you might even meet up with some deer and hedgehogs.
The area around the cottage belongs to the Beskiden, at the foot of the high Carpathian mountains. In the winter there is great skiing, in Pustevny for example (10 km). In the summer there is plenty to do. Take a swim in Lake Bystricka (15 km). The area is perfect for walking and cycling in the rolling hills and valleys. In the vicinity of the cottage you will also find two golf courses in Roznov pod Radhostem itself or in Celadna (21 km). For culture, visit the medieval castles of Helfstyn or Hukvaldy, and for children, the adventure park in Roznov is certainly recommended.

We are a Swiss-Czech Family with two small children and we are happy to show you the beautiful Beskids.
The Czech Beskids are the westernmost foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. It is the biggest landscape conversation area in the Czech Republic. The highest mountain is Lysa hora with 1324m, another remarkable mountain is Radhost 1129m und its skiing area Pustevny.Radhost is the local mountain of Roznov pod Radhostem.
Another big attraction in Roznov pod Radhostem is the Wallachian Open Air Museum with the Wooden Townlet, the Water Mill Valley and the Wallachian Village. Other interesting trips include the mountain Javorovy vrch, Jablunkov, Velke Karlovice as well as Kuncice pod Ondrejnikem.
The Beskids are a hilly landscape with gently sloped mounds and deep valleys. It is a treasure in itself and ideal for hiking along the mountain ridges overlooking a panoramic landscape. But there is also a wide range of possibilities for cyclists, from pleasant cycle paths and challenging mountain bike tracks. In the summer one can swim in the public swimming pools or in the nearby lake of Bystricka. For golfers there is a 9-hole golf course in Roznov pod Radhostem or in Celadna, one of the top golf courses in the Czech Republic with two 18-hole courses.
Roznov pod Radhostem is a little town with approx 21'000 inhabitants. It used to be a well-known spa in early 19th century but meanwhile the biggest attraction in Roznov is the Wallachian Open Air Museum with many old wooden buildings of the 19th century and a big variety of cultural events.
Roznov's local mountain is called "Radhost". Referred to as the place of pagan god Radegast Radhost was the host of sacred ceremonies to rejoice the god during the time of Slovan antiquity. Nowadays Radhost is a very popular excursion destination for hiking and biking. In the winter months it is well known for lonely cross country ski trails and in Pustevny one can ski. Additional ski resorts are in the vicinity.
During the summer months Roznov pod Radhostem is perfect for hiking, biking or golfing. There are also some medieval castles in the vicinity such as Helfstyn or Hukvaldy. There are open pools in Roznov or the newly opened in Valasske Mezirici or the lake in Bystricka. For children there is an outdoor adventure park in Roznov with various attractions such as jungle gyms, climbing frames and plenty of other play equipment.
In autumn the vast forests around Roznov are ideal for searching mushrooms. Lots of boletus are waiting, but one can also find chanterelle and various other edible mushrooms. |
