PROFILE:
Etienne Dewulf is a passionate Ceramicist from Ghent. Does not beat around the bush. Straight from the shoulders. Born under the sign of Leo and re-born in the 1980s with a lump of clay in his stomach. Jack-of-all-trades. Builder and composer. Futurist and tracker in distant pasts. Decorator by profession. Magician of the decor and the three dimensional arts. Great organiser. Tutor (in his own studio and elsewhere) with countless clay-loving pupils. Given half a chance, he will shape a lump of clay into a work of art, which he then pit fires, surrendering it to the whims of fire. This was the way of the primitives, this is his way too.
Etienne Dewulf is a non-chauvinist man. The holy ceramics fire still radiates from his eyes and gestures. Mere passion. Sharing his hands-on experience with others. He has been on this globe for over sixty years. The gods are beginning to notice his ceramic presence. If they would also share his passion, the ceramic landscape of Flanders and its surrounding regions could still be saved. |
