Le Moulin is a charming natural stone house on a property bordering the edge of a forest in the lovely rolling landscape of the Dordogne. Would you like to completely relax? Or would you rather walk along the small rivers and take excursions through authentic villages? Either way, this is a perfect spot for you.
Le Moulin was renovated in 2011 and has retained many of its authentic details. After a day out exploring, you can have a bit of a cool down in the private swimming pool and enjoy the view over the grounds and the Auvezere valley beyond. As well as the pool, there is a private garden and terrace immediately outside the cottage, ideal for sunbathing and bar-b-queing.
The occupants of Le Moulin also benefit from a 10m by 5m swimming pool with adjacent jacuzzi, terrace and seating area. This is shared with one other gite and the owner's family.
There are very quiet roads, and even quieter woodland paths, adjacent to the cottage in which to walk and cycle. You can easily walk to the river Auvezere, where you can swim, canoe, or admire the horseshoe falls at La Forge du Savignac.

Tips from the owner
Pets are welcome, and there are many local forests ideal for dog walking.
The local village of Payzac (5 mins by car, or 25mins through the woods by bicycle!) has two excellent bakeries, a supermarket, post office, bank and many interesting small shops. There are restaurants in both Payzac and Savignac-Ledrier (also 5 mins by car).
You can also enjoy the sandy beach and watersports at the Lac de Rouffiac-en-Perigord, which is only 10 min drive from the cottage.
The Perigord Vert region of France is very picturesque and offers many opportunities for walking, cycling, canoeing, riding and fishing, as well as sightseeing with some notable chateaus, including Hautefort and Pompadour (with its famous national stud), a short drive away. There are many local restaurants nearby offering traditional Perigordine fare, including truffles and foie gras. There is a small 'parc acrobatique' (similar to 'go ape') approx. 25mins away. The large towns of Perigueux and Limoges are both within an hour’s drive.
The location is well served by airports and the motorway network, with Limoges airport an hour’s drive and Bergerac airport 1.5hrs away. At Limoges, the toll-free A20 motorway provides excellent connections to Paris and beyond. |
