Traditional stone house located in a medieval village on Chios Island. This authentic stone house has been restored and decorated by architects. At a 15 min. drive from Chios Town, at an altitude of 340m. above sea level, lies the medieval village of St. George Sykoussis. Mountainous, picturesque with lush views to the planes of the island and the coast of Minor Asia. The village is a habitable, friendly and quiet environment with traditional cafes and mini-markets. This old stone house has been restored in an open plan - one leveled, holiday home of 70 sq.m., with everything you need to feel at home. All furnishings are respectfully chosen reincarnating the old living with a modern touch. Hop in a car and tour round the island, as the central location of the village offers you easy and quick access to all sites and beaches you wish to visit.
Visit the old Byzantine Church of Aghios Georgios (Saint George). The church was once the chapel (katholikon) of the monastery built before the Nea Moni. Take a look at the exquisite pebbled courtyard of the Church. Walk to the east side - little forest - of the village and enjoy a breathless view of the planes of the island (Kambos) and the coast of Minor Asia. Walk to the west of the village towards Aygonyma village (10 mins drive). Mountainous, picturesque with lush views to the planes of the island and the coast of Minor Asia. St. George Sykousis is serviced with good road access to all directions of the island. It is advised to rent a car during, your stay, to enjoy the wide variety of beaches and medieval villages the island has to show. The village is serviced by bus twice daily.
