Tips from the owner
The 5th district is the heart of Budapest. The district runs along the Danube and offers a wonderful view across the river onto the Gellert Hill, the Castle, the Matthias Church and the Chain Bridge. This is also what you see standing front of the house.
Front of the house runs the Nr.2 tram that connects one end of the district to the other end running along the Danube. Taking a ride is worth it if you want to have a splendid view of the main tourist attractions. When you hop off you may want to take a stroll along the embankment of the Danube.
Behind the studio the next street is the main pedestrian shopping street that leads on one end to the most famous Gerbeaud Cafe, and on the other end to the equally famous Great Market Hall.
Shop after shop, restaurants, cafes, bars, tourist offices, galleries, cultural venues, boutiques offer plenty to explore. This is the centre of dining and night-life. Should just wish to have a quiet night, there is also a 24/7 food store just around the corner in the Iranyi street.
My favourite restaurants/cafes around the studio:
BorLaBor - around the corner in the Veres Palne street, Nr.7. Wine restaurant in the cellar.
Astoria Mirror Cafe - 100 year old Hotel Cafe with deep sitting armchairs
Karolyi Etterem - is hidden in the wonderful garden of the Karolyi Palace which houses The Museum of Literature Petofi in Karolyi Mihaly street 16.
After visiting the Gerbeaud Cafe, you may want to hop on the oldest subway in Continental Europe that takes you to the Opera, the National Puppet Theatre, Hero Square, the Fine Art Museum, City Park, the only permanent Circus in Central and Western Europe, to the 100 year old Zoo and to the Vajdahunyad Castle.
If you are an admirer of fine porcelain, there is the flagship store of the worldwide known Herendi Porcelan in the pedestrian shopping street.
If you like wine there are great wine shops around the downtown area filled with Hungarian quality wines.

It takes place on Budapest's three exclusive locations, the Hungarian State Opera House, St. Stephen's Square and Hilton Dominican Court, a festival which has grown out to be the most successful and popular summer cultural event of our capital. It's for opera, folklore, operette fans and is one of Europe's most eagerly anticipated summer festivals.
