House description
At the edge of the village Kummerow, which lies at only 3 km. from the historical interesting Beeskow, Ferienhaus Buhrke is situated at only a stones throw away from the famous Spree which continues its bending way to Berlin. The completely detached house which you occupy entirely by yourself offers a nice combination of characteristic elements and of a good standard renovation. Downstairs you will find the well kept living- dining- and bathroom which accesses the garden with swing and sand box, while from the outside as well as from the inside one reaches the top floor where the 2-pers. bedroom directly joins the large balcony, facing south, with a view at the surrounding fields. Therefore you will always find a spot in the sun on the available garden furniture! In case you might want to explore something, you can rent, for a small fee, a motor boat (at the landlord) in which you slowly can sail down the river or you can visit the Spreewald (30 min.), Tropical Island (40 min.) or Berlin (1 hour). In short, an of a good standard en centrally situated destination for those who love to explore the former East-Germany with its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
Specifics:
The indoor stairs can be noted as steep for the mobility challenged. Therefore they can use the less steep outdoor stairs. Deviated travel dates are possible at request.

Tips from the owner
Some tips:
Nearby:
Beeskow with it’s old town and the castle with the museum. There you can go to concerts, theatre… In Beeskow you’ll find a tower with a climbing wall, the “Spreepark” with swimming baths and hiring out of canoes and a lot of small shops. The Marienkirche also is a visit worth. For more please ask in the bureau of the tourist information in the city hall.
Leißnitz: ferry to cross the Spree with your bike or on foot to reach the cyclepaths at the other side – there you’ll find also a beautiful lake with a strand; hiring out of canoes and bicycles at the ferry
Neuzelle:Visit of the baroque church, the Orangerie and the brewery. From Neuzelle drive via Ossendorf-Bahro to the stone-park (erratic block park)Henzendorf, make a walk in the heather. Or you walk about one hour around the Wirchensee near the street back toFriedland.
Eisenhüttenstadt has an interesting history. It was found in the 50th to have lodging for the people working in the steel industry.
Frankfurt/Oder : the windows of the Marienkirche , the workshop of the glass-makers; the Kleist-museum - and you should cross the bridge to Poland for a short visit in Slubice.
Lübben/ Lübbenau/ Spreewald: trips in punts, museum of farming and living in former times in Lehde
A bit further away:
Berlin:you shouldn’t leave it out! Visit one of the museums or do some window-shopping, e.g. Friedrichstraße, Unter den Linden, Museumsinsel, Dom, Hackesche Höfe, Alexanderplatz or the zoo with the aquarium…
Best to get to Berlin: drive by car to Fürstenwalde main station and by train to Berlin ( RE 1 ,every half an hour ; it needs about 40 minutes to Friedrichstraße). Buy a day ticket or a Brandenburg ticket if you are 3 to 5 people. With those tickets you may use all buses and trams and underground in Berlin.
But it is also not too bad to drive by car to the centre of the city.
Potsdam: Palace Sanssoucis with the park; Dutch District with nice little shops; you need about1,5 hours by car.
Dresden: you need about 2 hours by car
Cottbus: nice old town centre:; Fürst-Pückler-Park with castle and pyramides. Southof Cottbus you can visit the closed opencast mines of coal.
Wendisch-Rietz: Satama- Sauna-Park: if you like going to a sauna you shouldn’t miss it!
Tropical-Island in Brand: one day in the tropics and bathing under palm trees!
By bicycle or by car and then on foot:
The valley of the Schlaube ( Schlaubetal) between Müllrose and Wirchensee) is very beautiful for walking and cycling. An excursion to the mill of Ragow or Bremsdorf (Bremsdorfer Mühle) is really worth doing.
You can do parts of the following routes or the whole routes:
Schlaubetaltour (61km) – From Beeskow by train to Müllrose. Then by bike: Müllrose – Mixdorf – Siehdichum – Dammendorf- Chossewitz – Schlaubemühle – Siehdichum – Schernsdorf – Müllrose
Starting from Kummerow :
Schwielochseetour (50 km): small streets and cycling paths: Kummerow – Leißnitz – Glowe – Sarkow Möllen- Niewisch – Pieskow – Speichrow – Jessern – Goyatz-Guhlen – Ressen-Zaue – Trebatsch – Ranzig – Beeskow – Kummerow or from Ranzig with the ferry to Leißnitz and then to Kummerow
In the direction to the Schlaubetal, depending on how far you‘ll drive: Kummerow Leißnitz – Friedland- Oelsen – Chossewitz – Kieselwitzer Mühle – Siehdichum…. or
Chossewitz – Wirchensee – Reicherskreuz… or
Oelsen – Dammendorf – Siehdichum – Kupferhammer – Ragower Mühlel – Müllrose and then return by train
Or another direction: Kummerow – Beeskow – Radinkendorf – Neubrück – Kersdorfer Schleuse (sluice) and the same way back
Or to the Oder? You drive to Ratzdorf, Neuzelle, Aurith, Brieskow-Finkenheerd by car and then on the cycling path on the dike.
Good restaurants and inns:
Good restaurants are the”Kirchenklause” , the Greek restaurant “Athen” and the “Wasserwelt” in Beeskow
Fast food: Döner stand near the Penny-supermarket. Cafés near the marketplace
Most inns in villages can be recommended – the price-performance-ratio is correct.
Very good ice cream you can get in the ice café near the church of Friedland (pink house) and in the Schukurama-cinema-café in Beeskow.
Shopping: Supermarkets REWE/open till 10 o’clock p.m. ; supermarkets near the street to Fürstenwalde.
You should also visit the small shops in the town centre, the baker (Schulze with the best doughnuts and cake and bread/ Dreißig with the best rolls ( Brötchen)); Die “Ecke” for presents and souvenirs, wine, tea, tabacco etc. or the butcher shops. |
